In 1872 Anton Alois Brenner, purchased Baden-Badens elegant but cash-strapped hotel Stephanie les Bains. Through Brenners efforts. The original hotel was renovated and expanded to the point where it would eventually become Germany's most luxurious establishment. In 1941 economics and the realities of war reluctantly caused the Brenners to sell their beloved hotel to the Rudolf August Oetker family, long time friends, as well as frequent guests at the hotel.
